It is a misconception that the police have the technology to enhance the picture to achieve a perfect picutre of an offender

Quantity and Quality: Equipment location, type and quantity, together with distribution, recording media and the storage of videoare of paramount importance.

CCTV system offers the chance to record incidents and if required it is accepted in court as admissible evidence. Camera's can be installed in a number of ways. Both domestically and commercially a combination of single or multiple cameras can give effective coverage of any area.

Camera's can be used in light or dark conditions and can be backed up using Infra-Red lighting to give additional light in dark areas. Cameras can be supplied in Monochrome (black & white) or Colour although it is advisable to use Monochrome in dark conditions.

Generally a camera is connected to a monitor and these are available in many sizes depending on the quality of image you wish to see on the monitor. The camera signal is commonly connected via a switching unit that would allow the user to either view multiple cameras on the same screen or switch between cameras at timed intervals.

When recording images, a VCR can be supplied that will record real time or in time-lapse mode where the VCR can make a single 3 hour tape last up to 960 hours.

The latest innovation in CCTV is Digital Recording where the VCR is replaced by a digital recorder containing a hard drive which enables recording time and quality to be maintained without having to replace tapes on a regular basis.

A further development upon digital recorders, is the facility for remote viewing. This allows you to either dial into site using a modem or with advances in IP technology you can login via the internet.
