An intruder alarm is the most common form of electronic security used in a house or a business premises. A control unit monitors a number of "Zones" detecting movement or doors and windows being opened and in the event of alarm activation an external sounder will activate.
Electronic Alarms can offer a full range of alarm equipment. Supplied and installed to very high standards backed up with maintenance, monitoring and system expansion if required.
A typical domestic alarm system will include a control unit linked to a keypad which is used to set and unset the alarm system. Rooms in the house are generally monitored using Passive Infra-Red detectors (PIR's) of which various forms are available that sense movement alone, movement and heat and also size of an object when the alarm is set. |

Doors and windows can be monitored using magnetic contacts, which activate when a door or window is opened breaking the magnetic field in the contact.
Externally, our striking customised bell boxes can be mounted at the front and rear of a building and the piercing siren will not only alert that your property is being intruded but will also help in making the intruder decide to leave your property before any serious damage is done.
Our bell boxes are backed up using a high intensity flashing blue strobe to give a visual alert in darker conditions that the alarm as been activated.

In a commercial application, an alarm works on the same principle as a domestic installation but generally there are more "Zones" to protect, as the premises are much larger than a domestic installation. Forms of monitoring are also more varied; PIR detectors can be ceiling mounted in larger areas to create a 360-degree infrared curtain enabling much better coverage of an area. Systems can also be set and unset using an access control device. |
Intruder alarms come in two main categories, bell only and monitored systems.
Bell only systems - These systems incorporate a mixture of detection devices such as passive infrared detectors (PIR), magnetic door contacts or vibration detectors. Once the alarm has been set; on intrusion of the property, one of the detection devices will trigger the alarm thus sounding the alarm sounder or bell |

Monitored alarm systems - These systems are usually installed in high-risk situations and are much more sophisticated than the bell only systems. Again they use a variety of detection devices, but on activation the alarm panel can be set to do one of three things. Digital communicator – this system will dial a series of phone numbers via a normal phone line to inform the owner that the alarm has been triggered. |
BT Redcare © This system will again used a telephone line to inform someone of an intrusion. In this case the monitoring is much more sophisticated in that the signals are sent via a dedicated phone link to a 24-hour man alarm-receiving centre (ARC) that will inform the emergency services and the owner of the intrusion. |
